When placing a Trip Report (TR), please have the following information ready:
- Vessel name
- Call sign
- Departure point
- Destination
- Number of persons on board (POB)
- Estimated time of arrival (ETA)
Be sure to cancel your Trip Report once your journey is complete. If your ETA changes during the trip, you must update your TR accordingly.
Marlborough-Nelson Marine Radio will follow up on overdue vessels. If no contact is made within 30 minutes of your ETA, the matter will be referred to the New Zealand Police, which will likely result in a search and rescue operation being initiated.
If any part of your journey occurs outside our coverage area or operating hours (0700–2200), please lodge your TR with Maritime Radio on Channel 16.
Note: Maritime Radio may not initiate search and rescue solely due to an unclosed TR.
